And so Summer has officially ended

With the start last week of Wimbledon, the world’s most important tennis tournament, comes the end of summer. Rain and strong winds have pounded England; and down here in the South West we've had flash flooding. It's not all been doom and gloom, however, as there have been the odd few days of glorious sunshine. These sunny spells just haven't been very long lived.

This morning has been horrible out. I went to the barbers, got drenched on the way from the car to the shop. The place was deserted, save for Paul ((who has cut my hair for fourteen years and knows my hair better than anyone, possibly, dare I say, even better than the Lord himself)) and his two assistants. Obviously not many other folks are as able as me to wake up, wash my hair, go out and get soaked, get it cut, go back out and get it soaked again. To add insult to injury, if my hair is easily offended, I then took Meg out with my mother. So by the end of the morning I was well and truly wet through.

Mind you, the feeling of getting home into the warm, out of wet clothes into fresh, clean, dry clothes is one of those things I like. Meg of course, loves getting a towel rub whenever she has been for a walk in the rain. As for my hair? Well, it only ever sees the inside of a barbers shop once every six months so I'm sure it's feeling quite good right now and all...
