Strike 2
Oh boy. On Monday I had reported the incident with regards someone trying to connect the office laptop to the LAN. One of the problems remaining has been that the Internet connection has started to randomly drop. I knew this on Monday and had made it very clear to everyone that there was no hardware or software error causing this. My suggestion was that we call the ISP and ask them if something is wrong their end - or if perhaps, they'd changed something we hadn't been warned of, or were doing maintenance. Well anywho, I meant to do this yesterday but hadn't gotten around to doing so because I was really pushed in the morning and I was out all afternoon but would make that call today nonetheless.
Much to my horror, a computer repair man turned up at the office this morning and although I didn't see him, I could hear him and it was the same guy that had been called in the last time the office decided not to listen to me. They obviously like throwing money away because after fiddling around, this chap had declared there was no hardware or software error causing this. His suggestion was that we call the ISP and ask them if something is wrong their end. Fancy that!
I've worked in these offices for four years, though have actually been involved with their computer systems for over ten years. I would pop in when something went wrong, fix it, and walk off with a crisp ten pound note. Not bad when you're eleven years old. I'm coming on twenty-three now and it seems I'm commanding much less authority on the computer front now than I did as a child. Just rubs salt in the wound knowing that this same computer repair man had come in earlier this year, after I told the office there was no quick fix to a computer they had screwed up ((I told them I'd need to take the time out to back-up data and completely reinstall the system)) and they took a disliking to that. The guy comes in and in the end, says the same thing I had said.
So when I give an opinion on a matter relating to a computer, take heed - save your money, or give it to me instead.
