That noise you can hear? Oh, that's just my teeth...
...slowly grinding away as I sit here, looking out my window at storm clouds.
Today has been one very long day. I'm not usually in the office at 0755, which meant being on the road at 0725. Most days I don't get up until 0730, which is unfortunate because I always used to get up nice and early. I guess this comes with a loss of enthusiasm for work and, well, most things in general these days.
So why start work over an hour early? For my sins, one of the partners at work makes promises obsessively. One would be forgiven to think he was paid for each promise. What tends to result from such a promise is one of two outcomes. Either the client is let down, or I have the fulfilment of that promise dropped on my shoulders. Obviously, it's the latter in this case. Only problem being that in the mountain of work he left me before disappearing on holiday, this particular promise came second to a few last minute rushes, you know, for the clients that have been let down already. So the promise was that the client could come in this morning at 0900 to look over all the amazing drawings that I hadn't yet drawn. Brilliant. No really...phhhh...
I'm not in the business of letting people down, so I was determined to do my best to get something together for the chap. Thankfully for me I succeeded and he was happy. He left with a smile on his face and I was left with the remaining pile of work to be done...consisting of drawing stuff the client had been told, most unhelpfully, had already been drawn over a year ago - would you believe? The rest of the morning turned from a drawing frenzy to preparing a package of construction issue drawings for a project we're doing for the Sheikina Mission ((I prolly spelt that wrong)). Once they were prepared it was time to jump in the car and deliver them, hot off the press, to Ermington - a small village about sixteen miles from the office, I think...can't say for sure as I didn't take much notice. Should have done in order to claim my mileage...
So lunch gave me a moment to breathe before I was back at it in the office. My head was pounding. I was within my rights to leave at 1630 but couldn't get away until closer to my usual 1730 leaving time. The journey home was riddled with traffic, which hasn't been too bad just recently. Sadly I was following a coach with some lunatic kid sat looking out the back window, waving, pulling faces...generally being a -can't swear here, my family read this-. Let us just say that monkeys have more dignity and self awareness than this particular idiot...and that sort of thing winds me up no end. Gagh!

I'm home now, head still pounding though getting better. Soon I'll be calm again, ready for the lazy ritual of the weekend - going out with Meg on the moors - sleep - food - ahhhh............
