The future
I'm gonna quit work in the coming months and do this...
...start fresh, new career direction. The degree would last three years fulltime and for now I'm looking towards the University of Wales in Newport, or perhaps Exeter University if they do the same degree there.
internet and multimedia technology
BSc (Hons)
internet and multimedia technologies are becoming increasing important for the operation of many businesses and organisations. New technologies now incorporate extensive graphics, sound, animation and video. As a result, skills in multimedia technology, interface design and media production are required, as well as an increasing need for people with the skills and knowledge needed to design and manage the technical infrastructure. It is a challenging area since the technology, and the demands placed upon it, are evolving very rapidly.
career prospects
The primary purpose of this course is to prepare students for a multidisiplnary career involving the convergent Internet and Multimedia techologies. However, the broad content of this course would meet the requirements of a wide range of computer based positions including software design, systems design and software engineering.
what you study
The course is structure to deliver a high degree of practical hands-on activity supported by appropriate theoretical and academic underpinning. A typical course structure is indicated below:
year 1
computer systems ~ internet systems development ~ object orientated programming (java & c++) ~ software engineering ~ web authoring (html, dhtml & xml)
year 2
computer graphics ~ e-comerce ~ human-computer interface design ~ multimedia technology ~ network security ~ server and client-side scripting
year 3
3d modelling and animation ~ advanced multimedia production techniques ~ computer networks ~ interactive computer graphics ~ studio environment and integrated post production ~ final project
...start fresh, new career direction. The degree would last three years fulltime and for now I'm looking towards the University of Wales in Newport, or perhaps Exeter University if they do the same degree there.
