Sister returns
Coming around the corner and being in sight of my home, I was shrouded in the shadow of my sister's tank, mercilessly parked where I would normally be. The shame of it all. No matter, it's good to see her again, as always. She's down for a little over three weeks - which I think takes her to the end of the summer holidays and into the final year of her degree.
Naomi took me back outside to survey the damage her car took in an argument with a lamp post, which was nowhere near as bad as I had imagined when she told me about it last week. Nonetheless, the cost of a new rear bumper panel, no thanks to labour, is shy of £400 and may mean her living with it. Sadly this accident not only proved her tank wasn't indestructible, though came after she had decided to sell it and buy a smaller car - in order to save money. What foul luck then, for this to happen :(
The sun had decided to make an appearance this evening, so I did something about the state of my car. Driving around on the moors for my daily walks, coupled with the large amount of rain we've been having, had left it looking more like a clod of earth than a car. Gave it a good scrub and boy does it look better. Dunno if this is just me but it doesn't matter what I'm cleaning, nothing beats the transformation from dirty to clean. It gives me a lot of satisfaction - even when doing the dishes ((just don't tell my mother that)).
Work is the same as ever, although the atmosphere took a turn for the better when our secretary went on holiday and we got a temp in. As I said the other day, nothing beats a smile and a good cup of tea...and the sound of a good local accent come to think of it. Everyone is in a better mood right now. All the other stresses are still there but at least for now there's one major worry off my mind.
