Umm...let's try that again!
Blogger.com just went down as I was publishing this so I've gotta start over. Oh boy...
Today has been quiet, yet productive as always. One of my drawings went down rather well at a meeting with one of our clients this afternoon. Clients tend to be happy with my drawings, particularly when they're presentation or feasibility style drawings and I've had a reasonable amount of time in which to produce them. Sure I can draw extremely fast but I tend not to like my drawing work when it has been rushed. Technical drawings aren't much to get excited about so I rarely receive any accolades for those outside of the office.
My daily walk on Dartmoor didn't happen today. I'm kind of limited as to how far up onto the moors I can get when I've only an hour for lunch. Most of the ground where I had stopped off today had become saturated due to the heavy rain we've been having. Not having my waterproof trousers to hand, I wasn't happy about walking around and splashing up mud on my suit, which was recently dry-cleaned. So I sat in the car, admired the view...albeit somewhat dismal in this weather...and munched on my scotch egg whilst listening to the radio.
I'd like to think we'll get some sustained Summer weather soon, not just the odd day or two here and there. We've had so many wet or overcast days it feels more like Autumn. I mean, this evening in Boscastle, 60mm of rain ((which is more than the August average rainfall for the area on the coastline of north Cornwall)) fell in just two hours! The result, which we've been seeing here on the local news, as well as the national news, has been flash flooding that has wrecked havoc on the small village. All the water has channelled down through the valley and the main street became a 9ft torrent of dark muddy water and debris. Everything in it's path was just washed away. Sounds like roads in the area are just being ripped up by the water and some buildings are reported to be on the verge of collapsing. Scary stuff...
