A day for new stuff!

This morning a teeshirt I had ordered from the states arrived in the post and I popped into the opticians to pick up my new glasses. WordPerfect Office 12 arrived today - WordPerfect ((originally by Borland, bought later by Corel)) is a piece of software we've used for years and years. Microsoft's Word is getting there but WordPerfect has always been better...although to be honest, it's getting harder to distinquish between the two these days.

Work wasn't too bad yesterday. I was stood up by a client, having busted my guts to finish his drawings for when he was due into the office. I was handed some drawings one of our clients had obtained from another architectual practise which were all hand drawn. Honestly, if you want the hand drawn touch, use CAD software capable of rendering out drawings to such a style when printing. People should be shot for still doing all this by hand in this day and age. Come on! Think of the poor bastard that ends up having to scale them off...

I made my list yesterday. There's going to be a meeting on Monday because it's finally been noted that I'm getting all the hassle resulting from one of the partners bad decisions. Like the computer maintenence contract for instance...we've had so many problems that I have had to deal with since the partner signed up with them it's daft. It's not fair that I somehow end up being responcible.

Last week the office asked me to produce another 3D image for the University of Plymouth Sports centre, now that Phase two is half complete. Aparently I'm going to get paid up front, though was put on the spot for a price and I probably under valued the work I'm going to have to do on it. When the time comes for me to get on and do that, I'll be pressing them about the money I'm owed for previous work on which I'm still waiting.

Also, the office website domain and hosting has all been passed over to the office. It had been on my account with the hosts, along with all my websites, however the problem with this was that I was getting the bills and the office weren't very forthcomming with reimbersing me the funds...which was a pain. So now it's over to them and I'm sure they'll cock things up in January when it needs renuwing and they'll loose everything. Should be fun...
