This weeks misc stuff...

As you'll no doubt have read, this week I went back to work after having enjoyed a good two week holiday. So what else has happened? Well the house is undergoing a slight transformation as the hall, landing and kitchen are being redecorated. New carpets for the hall and landing - new kitchen tiles in the kitchen. The walls of the hall and landing have been painted a warm, deep shade of golden yellow which makes a change from white ((we've simply painted over the wallpaper because we like the pattern, albeit awkward to paint over)). I think the carpet is being done next week and the tiles next month. Sadly the old carpet with the new painted walls clash terribly so I can't wait for the new carpet to be laid.

I completed Half-Life 2 which is a stunning game, though wasn't overly pleased by the way it ended. Just waiting for Paul to complete it now so I can get his thoughts. I've read a few other people who didn't like the ending too much but plenty of people loved it so I guess it boils down to what your expectations where. But one thing people, please...the whole good guy turns bad guy has a last moment of conscious and turns back to being a good guy cliché sucks big time.

Last night I watched "Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence" which is a Japanese language animé film. Despite my Japanese not being brilliant, I really enjoyed it and would recommend folks see it. The mix of 3D render and traditional hand-drawn animé worked so well and the whole mood of the film had me hooked. And no, before you ask - I don't understand a word of Japanese - though would love to :).
