Got my car back :)
Collected my car this morning. Looks good as new, or in fact, better than new. The garage have fitted a smart chrome muffler clip on the exhaust which goes very well with the car. They'd also polished up the alloys and given the car a quick once over ((not that it was all that dirty anyway - just a tad dusty)) so after two days in the courtesy car, mine looked a million dollars.
I was very pleased with the service provided by Tavistock Motors - as my father and sister have been with their cars in the past. I'd strongly recommend them to anyone who lives in this area.
After a couple of day, my opinion on the courtesy car was slightly higher than it had been at first. Yes, it was sluggish but at first it was worse due to me getting used to the way the car handled. Makes for a good city car, though I wouldn't use a VW Polo for commuting daily across Dartmoor. My car has low profile tyres and traction control, which makes mince meat of the windy roads - and for its size, a powerful 1.6i 16v twin cam engine that eats up the long straights. Also proves invaluable when pulling out from minor roads onto the major roads.
So I'm a happy bunny - and the squeak has been resolved. Was a simple case of needing a new break pad. How the existing one got into such a bad state, as I believed it had been replaced only two months ago, is something I'll have to take up with Rover.
