The Waiting
During lunch today, I went into town, a rare feat, in search of new shoes and to get my film developed. Frequenting Plymouth City Centre as infrequently as I do, the biggest chore of finding footwear is locating a shop selling such items. Furthermore, finding the store I actually want to go to - where I almost always purchase shoes. Now I'm not sure about anyone else but I don't spend an awful lot of time looking at my feet. I tend to buy loafers because they're less hassle to put on and in the evenings I can kick them off with ease. There are no laces for people to say are undone or worse still, to actually be undone and trip on, which for those of a nervous disposition, would save thousands on Paroxetine over a lifetime. Call me depressing but I bought exactly the same pair of shoes as I have for the last few years running but they are smart and quite comfortable. In any case, this paragraph has definitely become depressing so I'll move on.
The wait begins. Yes, on my way back to the car I took the three rolls of film into Jessops to have them developed. I paid a little extra to not only have prints made but for them to scan the negatives and develop the shots digitally too. I'm hedging my bets on having a decent ratio of good:bad exposures out of the seventy-two photographs I've taken...and it'll save me scanning them myself. Plus if any of these pictures are worth making into prints, I won't have any work to do preparing them for said purpose. Tomorrow I'll be nipping in to pick them up and praying I won't be disappointed.
I must admit that the experience, after so many years of digital photography, has been some what humbling. The Canon EOS-100 SLR is a very nice camera and using the traditional lens felt so much more natural than the lens on my Nikon E5400 compact - which now feels very small and light after having lugged around the comparatively large SLR. I'd really like to get a Nikon D70 now but can't justify the expense at this time. I'll get back into the swing of things with the E5400 soon enough.
Well I must press on with work now.
