Some time off work, almost...

I'm off work next week, which is good because I finally get a chance to relax and spend some time away from the office. Recently my workload has been very high and as the partner I do most of my work for is promising everyone everything for yesterday; my stress levels have shot through the roof. This makes me feel very sad about the work I'm doing and unfortunately it's my family who get to hear my grievances in the evenings.

Sadly, work has once again crept into my own time and I will be spending some of this time off work working. The senior partner received a complaint about the other partner who had promised a client of ours a set of revised drawings for what is to be a nice development up on the Barbican. This was a couple of weeks ago and I hadn't actually been asked to do anything until 1735 last night, as I was leaving the office. Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I've been asked to complete the work before returning.

While this troubles me ((after all it's not my fault promises are made on my behalf)); to be fair, the senior partner has increased my holiday allowance for the year by way of compensation, encouraged me to claim more days than it actually takes me to do the work. I guess he's embarrassed to be in a position to ask me to work during my time off just because his partner, who left for France last night for a week, can't stop promising clients the world.

This aside, I am still glad to be 'on holiday' now.

I've received a business invite to a pre-launch preview of a new food and entertainment facility on the barbican called View 2 The Barbican. Sounds alright and I'm tempted to take advantage of this invite but have no one to go with so I will probably give it a miss. Story of my life...

Thinking on life - I'm very pleased and relieved to say all my buddies in the London area are accounted for following the bomb attacks yesterday. What a terrible thing to happen on a day when the G8 conference got started with talks regards the well being of the world; and when London was in such jubilant mood having won the bid to host the 2012 Olympics. Our hearts go out to those caught up in the four bombing incidents; and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who tragically have died. The actions of terrorists will do nothing than strengthen the people and way of life they aim to destroy; and for that they will loose their war against us.

On a lighter note - France - did anyone else find it amazingly funny when, after hearing that they had lost the 2012 Olympic bid, it rained in Paris where all those people were standing outside in utter disbelieve that they'd lost. Aha haa haa.... yeah, that's still making me giggle to think of it now...

I hope you've been enjoying the recent photographs I've submitted to deviantART and today's digital painting of Meg.
