Weekend!

This week hasn't been that good to me. Returning to work from a holiday in which I worked began less than great. Having spent Monday and Tuesday redoing a lot of work I'd done under incorrect instruction; the rest of the week turned into a flurry of meetings and deadlines on smaller projects. Mind you, I quite like getting hands on with the smaller clients, so long as they pay their fees. There's this one guy we're sure is out to get as much work as possible from the office without paying up but we can't turn around and not do the work on a hunch.

Before lunch on Wednesday I handed in the final application for planning permission on the development at Vauxhall Street, Plymouth. This is the project for which I hauled ass during my holiday to get out the way, booking in about twenty-seven hours between getting home Friday night and Sunday afternoon when I then drove into the office to do the printing. As I've mentioned, I had the misfortune of being asked to do the wrong stuff, which is why I spent Monday and Tuesday redoing all that work. There's no denying I got the shitty end of the stick. To put the value of this work into perspective, in professional fees this application is worth £22,000 of which I won't see a penny. Such is life...

I got a couple of other planning applications out of the way, small developments; the largest of which being two houses in Calington, Cornwall. As ever I was asked to produce these at the last minute but managed to pull out the goods in time. I hate working under such deadlines but I'm good at it. I have no other alternative but to be.

One of our clients is The Livewire Youth Club who currently occupy the old Saltash Boys Club building on the waterfront in Saltash ((next to the pub with the huge union jack painted on it)) and we just got planning permission for them to redevelop the building. If they get their funding ((English Heritage and the National Lottery)) then the end result should look fantastic. Those of you in the area should keep a look out for that being done within the next year or so. If you're under eighteen and into music, or have nothing better to do, then go now and check them out ((and one of the most beautiful of women who works there)).

Thankfully the weekend is upon us. I got home last night and crashed into bed. I've just been so tired and stressed out this week - it's horrible. I may get out with the camera if the weather is favourable.

This coming Monday my car goes into the garage to make me poor. On Tuesday I get a small break from work to go get my teeth seen to by my dentist in Ivybridge. On Wednesday we've got a meeting in the office to discuss upgrading computers and making use of new technologies in the office - blargh - unnecessary and bound to cause problems down the road. We'll see...

Enjoy your weekends, hope you've had better weeks than I've had. Remember if you do see me walking down the street, don't just pass me by - gimme a hug!
