Please be quiet...
Last night there was a three-legged pub crawl organised for new students, which as a non-drinker I was quite happy to pass on. Even if I did drink, I was far too tired and I personally don’t like being around people when they’ve been drinking. People were slowly getting back onto campus from midnight to about three thirty this morning during which time I got little sleep at all for all the noise and clambering about.
Needless to say, this morning I was very tired and had quite a headache. On the plus, with everyone else dead to the world, I was able to breakfast and shower in peace.
Shortly after ten, Dad came up to see my room and he then took me out to buy a couple of rugs which right now are making the floor look a lot better. It’s also improved the acoustics of the room as the rugs absorb a lot more sound than these old floor tiles… as if you wouldn’t have guessed!
The two of us went out for lunch before Dad left me. I’m ever so grateful to him for his support, as I am for Mum’s support. I’ve probably phoned her half a dozen times already to let her know what’s happening. My sister phoned today which was nice. Although she’s sixteen months younger than me, Naomi has already been through University after taking a year out after finishing her A-Levels; whereas I went into work for five years. She graduated a few months ago as it happens.
I’ve filled in the inventory survey which I’ll get off to the Accommodation Office first thing tomorrow morning. There was a mandatory Health and Safety presentation given this afternoon which was all very much common sense and seemed to last forever. What I did learn was that because I’m over 21, have held a drivers licence for over two years, and have no more than six penalty points on my licence that I’m one of two in Halls A, B, C & D that are permitted to drive a University mini-bus. Go me!
Also I’m now told I can get this cable for my Internet connection from the Accommodation Office. I’ll grab one of those first thing tomorrow when I drop off this inventory thingy.
Hopefully I’ll sleep better tonight. Tomorrow afternoon is my course enrolment and induction at the Allt-yr-yn campus so I’ll get to see who else is doing the degree.
